I have been working on a painting series of atmospheric beach/ocean scapes in my paitning class + at home. I shot photos on one of our many trips to Corolla, NC last winter and they have made for this aweosme painting series and I hope to get more mysteriously misty + moody shots when we go again in the next month!
The last painting "series" I did was my senior year in college. It was 5 huge abstract paintings based on the book of Revelation... yeh it was challenging but I loved it! Hopeuflly I will do another abstract series on Revelation.. and hopefully I will show you all those paintings one day... as of now they are in 3 different locations... let that be a lesson for me to photograph everything before it gets toted off somewhere!
Okay here are 2 of the paintings so far:
LIGHT is so crucial.. I will remember that when taking photos of these subtle paintings in the future for these posts.. I LOVE this series of mysterious beach paintings and learning to blend abstract with realistic since I really enjoy painting both of those.
Lastly, I have been working on a commissioned painting of ultra springy BLUE HYDRANGEAS for a friend and I am loving it... you will have to check out the blog later this month to see pictures of that!
Do you like realistic paintings or abstract? Why? :)
